GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES
ST ANDREWS CHURCH SINGING GROUP
This is an active group of men and women who sing once a month to the congregation. There are no auditions required for this group as it is about enjoyment and a love of church music. We use a blend of modern and traditional music, sung in unison.
We sing to the congregation once a month (on the second Sunday ) we practice once a month now on the 2nd Saturday

A roster of willing helpers serve morning tea after Sunday services in the hall where there is always much chatter and fellowship each week.
Fresh vegetables and fruit, flower and vege plants, home grown walnuts, eggs, jams and marmalade are presented after morning service on a Sunday. This has become a popular institution and funds raised to towards maintence of the complex.
The Monthly Service
Followed by afternoon tea is held on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 2.30pm. It has been very popular being attended by an average of 25, mainly elderly folk. Noeline Rasmussen organises transport and contacts those who need it then matches drivers with guests. Jane Heywood and Nel Hoek and their team of helpers provide delicious afternoon teas. There is always a lovely buzz of conversation and laughter and everyone appreciates the Service.
Dicky Willemsen is always ready with her team when asked to cater for funeral or other gatherings held in St Andrew's.
The Chronicle is our monthly newsletter, distributed widel in the community. The Sunday morning bulletin which keep us all abreast of the life and work of the parish can be seen on another page of this website.
Throughout the year a small but industrious group of women meet to sew items to be sold at our Church Fair or for commissions for aprons, oven cloths, children's clothing and other necessities of life. They would welcome new helpers.
About 10 members meet each Thursday morning where they share conversation and morning tea along with working on whatever craft interests each of them.
Lynda Montgomery prepares the prayer spot for each Sunday and shares a circle of prayer requests with 5 others.
are arranged from time to time by Barry & Marsha Stringer who put much time & effort into encouraging local talent in choirs, musicians or soloists. The concerts attract large, enthusiastic audiences at a very small cost.
Occasionally additional concerts are held when visiting musicians are available. A recent such event was a choral/organ concert featuring organist Christopher Hainsworth from Beziers Cathedral, France and Bella Voce from Marlborough Girls College. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience who attended.
Community Food Bank
It is a pleasure to note that a contribution is made each week in generous donations by parishioners. Any left over perishable goods from the weekly stall are also added.
A popular get-together on the first Thursday of each month beginning at 5.15pm. Several churches take it in turns to cater for the meal and serve it but a regular group of St Andrew's folk are involved in the fellowship and Service for these evenings.
Also biennially when the community Seniors Expo is held, St Andrew's sets up a display which is staffed by willing parishioners. They enjoy telling folk of how we are active in the community and the fellowship that ensues.
Garden Marlborough Fete day
We regularly open our facilities on this special day to offer tea or coffee and a quiet place to rest.
